Jessops will headline Corporation, Sheffield, on Friday 9 October, in what will be their biggest show to date.
The five-piece, all aged 17, have built a growing reputation on Sheffield’s live music scene in just two years, selling out shows at Record Junkee, Sidney & Matilda and Network, as well as supporting The Sherlocks at The Steel Yard this summer.
Jessops have also started attracting attention from music press. Reviewing their support slot with The Sherlocks, RGM Magazine praised the band’s “powerful guitar solos”, “commanding frontman” and connection with the crowd, concluding: “After seeing that set, the future is definitely looking bright for these lads.”
Now the band are preparing to step up again with their biggest headline show yet at Corporation, where they will debut new material from their forthcoming first EP.
Jessops have already released two tracks, Rio Bravo and Hills Without a Name, with more new music planned as they continue to develop their sound and build their audience.
Frontman Dougie Walkden said:
The last couple of years have moved much faster than any of us expected. We started out just wanting to play gigs and write our own music, and suddenly we’re selling out venues, supporting bands we’ve grown up listening to and getting ready to headline Corporation.
“We’re proud of what we’ve done so far, but it still feels like we’re only getting started. Corporation is a big next step for us, and we’re really looking forward to playing some of the new songs we’ve been working on.
The five-piece have developed an energetic indie sound shaped by Sheffield’s guitar-band tradition, while steadily building a following of their own.
The band began two years ago in the practice rooms at Meadowhead School, where the five friends initially played together for fun. They started taking things more seriously after being asked to perform at a relative’s birthday party.
Their name has strong Sheffield roots too. All five members were born at the Jessop Wing in Sheffield, inspiring the name Jessops.
Dougie added:
Seeing people come back to gigs, knowing the songs and bringing their friends has probably been the biggest thing for us. It feels like there’s a real audience growing around the band now.
“Corporation will be our biggest show yet, so we want it to feel like a proper moment for everyone who’s been with us so far, as well as people seeing us for the first time.
Jessops headline Corporation, Sheffield, on Friday 9 October 2026. They will be joined by support acts The Kellows, Category Error and Derventio. The show is 14+.
